You may have a child in school since you’re reading this post. Children spend most of their time in school. You entrust the school with the very person that you’ll do anything for. Therefore, the main thing that is on your mind is SAFETY – your child’s well-being at school, right?
What’s next on your mind? Your child’s SUCCESS! His or her success in school is linked with how you are as a parent. Yes, you must be hands on until your child graduates. Too many parents “release” their children after elementary school.
Be the parent that teachers love…this tip will help with your child’s overall success in school!
1. Be involved. Sounds like work? It is! But, isn’t your child’s success worth it? I often see parents at football and soccer games, but I didn’t see them at Open House. Why? Contact the teacher at the beginning of the school year. Email may be best. Introduce yourself and let the teacher know you are ready for an exciting year! Check your child’s grades THROUGHOUT the marking period. Don’t wait until the last week before report card grades are due.
Looking for more? That’s it! Look forward to my future posts. I will expound upon this tip. Here’s the truth of the matter, children value what the adults around them value. When adults are INVOLVED in a child’s educational journey, it’s an INVESTMENT that will always pay you!
Has this tip helped you? Do we show students how much we value their education? Let me hear from you!
