I love Wednesday’s for two reasons: It’s #WednesdayWisdom and my social media check day. (My ‘wise share‘ of the day is to: Either follow the crowd or make a difference. You can’t do both.) Today is a great day to look at what you have posted on social media so far this week. You want to make sure that you have posted content that is helpful to your audience. The truth is that your followers don’t really care about you. Your audience cares more about what you have to offer them.
So, here are some mid-week thoughts:
- What information have I shared with my audience?
- How valuable was my content?
- How many likes & shares did I receive? How many people did my post reach?
- Have I interacted with my followers?
It’s vital to hold yourself accountable with your social media presence. Conducting your mid-week check will help you stay on track and in the face of your audience. If you are not consistent with valuable information, no one will be interested in your products or services. Last week I posted that you either influence or be ignored!
Based on the feedback that I’ve received about my Periscope last night, my live viewers shared that they really need to go back and evaluate their posts. We automatically assume that we are sharing what our audience cares about. And, you will eventually get to the point in which you post value more than you promote. It takes some practice and being intentional with your social media practices. Have your mind set on your end goal. No one is perfect with posting and sharing because social media continues to evolve.
One thing that will never change is to provide value to your audience. Only 10-20% of your posts should be promotional. So, make some time today and look at all of your social media platforms. Evaluate what you’ve shared thus far. Hold yourself accountable with giving your best to your audience. Share your expertise with them. It’s in you.
I’m interested to know…how often do you go back to review your social media platforms? What goes on in your mind when you look at your previous posts?
