You want people to like and share your posts, right? That’s the goal of being on a social platform – interaction and engagement. The more your audience interacts, the more traffic your posts will receive. Don’t you want more people viewing your content and even linking it to what they post online?
So, what should you do to even attract your audience? What makes people like and share your posts?
- Ask for a like, share, or retweet. Please don’t assume that your audience knows that you want them to engage. There are times in which you need to specifically ask your followers to do what you want them to do. If you follow me on Twitter you will see that I clearly include #retweet or #RT at the end of my tweets.
- Consider what people want. Everyone wants to look good, so use the language that may be dwelling in their minds. How does your product/service enhance people’s lives? Tell them. Show them. Additionally, people want to sound smart online. Publish information that can help your followers do just that. Everyone wants to be the first to post the trending headline or newest product on the market. Remember, your audience wants people to like and share their posts too. So, give them something that will boost their online credibility.
- Post for a cause. Make your social platforms about more than yourself. What are you doing for other companies or businesses? Is there a local charity that you’re supporting? People want to help people, and you should share just how your business is doing that.
Let’s look at Norman Freeman, for example. He’s a makeup artist that dolled up cancer patients for free. A good deed that lead to a lot of (unintentional) exposure for him. Post your good deeds and watch how many shares you get. Could you imagine what that will do for your business? Your traffic and following will definitely increase.
