If you’re like me, you experience how everyone gets so happy on Friday’s. It seems like the world lights up on Friday. Why? People are excited about it being the last work day of the week. Many look forward to a weekend of festivities or simply time to rest.
Why is this an ongoing cycle? Why do we live for the weekend? Why do we get so happy about pay day? Are we really excited about paying bills? I doubt it. Why are we so happy NOT to work? Is the ability to work not a blessing? Several people are disabled and cannot work. There are thousands of qualified people who cannot find a job. So, why are we so in love with the weekend? Are we really working hard at work to rest all weekend?
I’m seeing a growing trend of people posting photos and Facebook status during their work hours. Last week, a 911 dispatcher was busy on her phone while she should’ve been supervising her trainee. A man could’ve possibly been saved if paramedics were sent to the right location. Yes, we’re all entitled to make mistakes. My point is to say that many are socially engaged all day that they aren’t giving their job all of their effort. So, for those that rejoice about free time on the weekend, why?
Here’s what it boils down to – people are not happy with their jobs. It’s just something to do to pay the bills. Collect the check. Spend the money. Pay the bills. And go back to the same boring job. Is this the life? Why not get paid every day?
