It’s great to build online communities. Facebook groups have become popular with helping business owners and influencers to build their communities. But, some are annoying people. It’s vital to build your tribe effectively.
Here’s what you should be aware of:
- Ask for people’s permission before you add them to a group. I’m so annoyed when people add me to their groups, especially when it has nothing to do with my interests.
- Don’t assume that people want your product. Yes, we may be Facebook friends, but don’t add me to your group because you think I want to buy your product. Let’s be honest, if I don’t know you, I’m not giving you my money. This is how our Facebook friends feel. Build relationships first.
- Provide value to your online community. Facebook groups are not secret communities to spam people with your products. No one wants to be in a group that’s all about getting their money. Find a way to enrich the lives of your tribe. Provide information that they can use.
In a Facebook group that you want to leave? Here’s how…
NOTE: You can opt to stay in a group and not receive any notifications by selecting ‘Off’ on ‘Notification Settings’ button.
Be a responsible group organizer. Building online communities are a great asset to you. And you will find that a lot of opportunities arise when you build groups of people who have similar interests as you do.
Leave a comment. Tell me if you’ve ever been added to a Facebook group that you didn’t want to be a part of. Would you like to build an online community? I look forward to reading your comments!
